Scouterna presents Julius Kramer as candidate for the World Scout Committee
In August, the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM) will elect a new composition of 12 members to the World Scout Committee. Scouterna proudly presents Julius Kramer as its candidate.
The Guides and Scouts of Sweden (Scouterna) actively contributes to and benefits from the progress of our growing global Movement of over 60 million members. Now, Scouterna announces the nomination of Julius Kramer as candidate to the World Scout Committee for the period of 2024-2027.
– We are proud to present Julius Kramer as our candidate. Julius is an experienced strategist with a professional background in peacebuilding and governance. His leadership brings people together, and is proven to navigate complex challenges with curiosity and clarity. I am convinced that Julius offers experiences that will help steer World Scouting towards increased relevance, unity and impact, amidst global challenges, says Ida Texell, Chairperson of Scouterna.
Julius’ journey through international scouting began at the World Scout Jamboree in Sweden in 2011, where he learned from peacebuilding scouts and guides from the Great Lakes Region in Africa. Since then, Julius has held leading roles at various levels, driving institutional transformation, innovating educational methods and shaping consequential global partnerships and policies. He formed part of WOSM’s crisis leadership at the recent World Scout Jamboree in Korea, co-chaired the European Scout Conference, and served on the Steering Committee of the previous World Scout Committee, navigating WOSM through the Covid-19 pandemic. Julius is currently our Deputy National Commissioner for Strategy in Sweden. Professionally, Julius is a senior public servant working on peace mediation and inclusive governance in conflict.
Commenting on his motivation for running, Julius says:
– I am honoured to be entrusted with the nomination, particularly at this important point in time. When divisions deepen in society, scouts deepen trust. Scouting is growing in impact and scale. WOSM is also facing some exciting transitions – including a new Strategy. I want to contribute to an even more united and ambitious Scout Movement, brought together by meaningful conversations around our various campfires. And to a strategically intentional and curious World Scout Committee, eager to learn from each other, from the past, from the diverse needs of Member Organizations - and from the changing world around us.
The elections to the World Scout Committee will be held during the World Scout Conference in Cairo, Egypt, 17th – 23rd of August 2024.
