All compete in SIME Awards!

This year the prestigeous SIME Awards presents a new format for the proud competition in Internet and Digital Opportunities. No one applies, all compete! First out is SIME Rising Star of the North. Out of hundreds of young, promising companies in the Nordics the SIME jury has nominated 36, the first twelve revealed yesterday. The winner will be announced during the SIME Awards gala at Café Opera 12 November 2009 where also the winner of SIME Grand Prize is announced.

SIME Awards announces winners in two different categories: SIME Grand Prize, which goes to the large corporation in the Nordics that in the best way has managed to utilize digital strategies to strengthen their proposition. The other prize: SIME Rising Star of the North goes to the young company in the Nordics that the jury sees as the most promising for the future.

The first twelve nominated for Rising Star of the North are: Spotify (SWE), SoundCloud (SWE),
Tobii (SWE), Fileride (SWE), Muxlim (FIN), Joikuspot (FIN), Eat.fi (FIN), Mobileaxept (NOR), Wimp by Aspiro (NOR), Zendesk (DK), Aptocore (DEN) samt ZPS Software (DEN). Read more about the nominees here: Rising Stars of the North.

New this year, apart from the competition being with only two categories, is that the jury alone selects the companies without receiving applications for SIME Awards. Instead SIME has analyzed several hunderds of companies in the Nordics to come get to the 36 nominees that will be revealed during the following weeks.

- Since digital media increasingly is integrated within all different fields, we go from exposing single steps forward within technlogy, strategy and communication, to focusing on the innovative and strong companies that excel in all three fields. We are also convinced that the new format will lead to an even higher quality since the jury today are reviewing all companies and not only the ones that apply, says Christoffer Granfelt, CEO of SIME.

The Awards ceremony will take plave 12 November at Café Opera in Stockholm after two full SIME days (11-12 November) at Ambassadeur and Rigoletto.
