Christmas at Skansen
Christmas at Skansen is a whole month of events and celebrations - from the opening up of the first Christmas market until the fireworks at New Year´s Eve.
This year the market are held on the 27 - 28 of November, 4 - 5, 11 - 12 and 18 - 19 of December.
Swedens Lucia is crowned on the 4 of December and the traditional Lucia celebration takes place on the 13 of December.
The most important houses on Skansen are prepared for Christmas and the guides talks about traditions, food, folklore and customs.
Fire & Ice - the midwinter solstice celebration - takes place on the 18 - 19 of December and on the 25 of December there´s a service at 7 o´clock at the Seglora church.
The days leading up to New Years Eve Staffan and his boys roam between the farms singing and playing tricks, and on the 5 and 6 of January the trolls have their own Christmas on the stage in the Lodge.
Gathering at Skansen on the New Year evening is popular and everybody waits for the actor to recite Tennyson and for the clock to strike midnight. And then there´s fireworks.
