Smart Refill’s banking app for Handelsbanken’s young customers wins App of the Year award

The Swedish business magazine Privata Affärer has given the prestigious award App of the Year to Handelsbanken for their new banking app for children – developed by Smart Refill and launched in Sweden and Denmark during 2018. The purpose of the app is to teach young people to manage their money, in interaction with their parents.

The jury's motivation: “Kids learn to handle money in Handelsbanken's banking app for children. It is both fun and exciting, completely in line with Privata Affärer's focus.”

– Our cooperation with Handelsbanken has been characterized by speed, interaction, creativity and the desire to find digital solutions that help Handelsbanken’s customers getting even better service. I’m proud of Smart Refill’s drive and ability to create new solutions in close collaboration with Handelsbanken, says Henric Ungh, CEO of Smart Refill

In this day and age of credit cards and digital payment methods, money has almost become an abstract concept. Teaching kids about the value of banknotes and coins was easier, because it was something that you could hold in your hand, says Linda Kyrkander, who is responsible for the app at Handelsbanken.

– We’re incredibly happy, and a little bit surprised, about the attention that this app is getting. It confirms that we are on the right path, Linda says.
