New direct day train services Hamburg – Stockholm and extended night train services Berlin – Stockholm
Starting on 4 May 2026, Snälltåget will introduce a new direct day train service between Hamburg, Copenhagen, Malmö and Stockholm. The new connection will depart from both Hamburg and Stockholm in the morning and arrive the same evening. At the same time, the number of departures on the night train service Berlin – Stockholm will be increased during the winter of 2026/27.
"We are seeing considerably increasing interest in travelling by train between Germany, Denmark and Sweden, and we have therefore decided to introduce day train services that runs directly all the way from Hamburg to Stockholm, and vice versa’ says Marco Andersson, Commercial Manager at Snälltåget."
"The new connection complements Snälltåget's existing night train Berlin – Hamburg – Copenhagen – Stockholm and is also an alternative for passengers who prefer to travel during the day. Not having to change trains in Copenhagen or Malmö also makes international train travel more attractive, Marco continues."
The new direct train will stop in Neumünster, Padborg, Kolding, Odense, Copenhagen, Malmö, Lund, Eslöv, Hässleholm, Alvesta, Nässjö, Linköping, Norrköping and Södertälje before reaching Stockholm. The journey time is approximately 11 hours from Hamburg to Stockholm. Snälltåget's popular restaurant carriage, ‘Krogen’, will be a part of the services and open throughout the journey.
Snälltåget will also increase the number of departures with the night train Berlin – Hamburg – Copenhagen - Stockholm during the low season – primarily in winter – after the contracted night train service on the same route, operated by another company, ends after the summer of 2026. Detailed information about the service for winter 2026/2027 will be presented in spring 2026.
Ticket sales for the new direct train between Stockholm and Hamburg, and the night train to Berlin for the summer period 4 May – 1 Novmeber, open today at 9 a.m.
