New direct train Hamburg – Copenhagen – Stockholm starts today May 4th
From 4 May 2026, Snälltåget will operate a new direct daytime service Hamburg – Copenhagen – Stockholm. The new service departs from Hamburg and Stockholm in the morning and arrives the same evening.
- “We are seeing significant interest in travelling by train between Germany, Denmark and Sweden, and have therefore decided to introduce a daytime service in each direction that runs directly all the way from Hamburg to Stockholm and from Stockholm to Hamburg”, says Marco Andersson, Chief Commercial Officer at Snälltåget.
- The new service complements Snälltåget’ s existing service with the Berlin – Hamburg – Stockholm night train and also offers an alternative for passengers who prefer to travel during the day. Not having to change trains in Copenhagen and Malmö also makes international train travel more attractive, Andersson continues.
The daytime train also includes three new stops in Denmark for Snälltåget services: Padborg, Kolding and Odense. From Kolding, Snälltåget will operate its own bus service to Legoland Billund Resort during the period 22 June – 2 August, in connection with the daytime train. It is also possible to purchase a package deal including train travel, transfers, accommodation and entry to Legoland and Lalandia adventure park.
The new direct train will stop at Hamburg Hbf, Neumünster, Padborg, Kolding, Odense, Copenhagen South, Malmö, Lund, Eslöv, Hässleholm, Alvesta, Nässjö, Linköping, Norrköping, Södertälje och Stockholm C. Snälltåget’s popular restaurant carriage, “Krogen,” is included on the new direct trains and is open throughout the journey.
Prices and booking
A one-way trip from Stockholm to Hamburg starts at 499 SEK (45 EUR) for an adult second class. There are also special discounts for children under 16 travel with parents, youth under 26, students, seniors aged 60 and over, or for those traveling together (at least two people). Interrail passes are valid for travel on Snälltåget but require a seat reservation, from 49 SEK (5 EUR).
