Snälltåget new service Oslo – Gothenburg – Malmö starts today
Snälltåget is today launching a new Oslo–Gothenburg–Malmö service, with daily departures and a dining carriage. In Malmö, there are connections to Snälltåget’s night train services to Hamburg and Berlin.
“The new route makes it easier, cheaper and more comfortable to travel along the Oslo–Gothenburg–Malmö/Copenhagen corridor,” says Marco Andersson, Chief Commercial Manager at Snälltåget.
“We believe that direct trains, better comfort in carriages designed for long-distance travel, and a dining carriage are crucial for the train to gain market share on this route,” Andersson continues.
Snälltåget’s dining carriage “Krogen” will be included on the new Oslo–Gothenburg–Malmö services and vice versa. It will also be possible to travel in a private compartment, perfect for families with children and for those who wish to travel together.
The train departs daily from Oslo S in the afternoon and arrives at Malmö C in the evening; the train in the opposite direction departs from Malmö C in the morning and arrives at Oslo S around lunchtime. The trains also stop at Fredrikstad, Sarpsborg, Trollhättan, Gothenburg-Gamlestaden, Mölndal, Varberg, Halmstad, Helsingborg and Lund. See timetables below for further details.
In Gothenburg, there will be stops at Gamlestaden and Mölndal, rather than Gothenburg Central. From both Gamlestaden and Mölndal, it is easy to continue your journey with Västtrafik, by tram or commuter train into the city centre or to your final destination.
The cheapest tickets start at 149 SEK for Oslo–Malmö for a rebookable ticket. A seat reservation is always included when you travel with Snälltåget.
Tickets are sold via Snälltåget.se and through retailers such as Omio.com, Vy.se and Entur.no. When booking via Entur.no, you can combine your journey with other public transport in Norway and view more travel options between Oslo and Malmö.
“We also hope that being able to easily book your train journey, including onward travel to Hamburg and Berlin, online in one place will help increase market share for rail travel,” Andersson continues.
Interrail passes are also valid for travel on Snälltåget, a seat reservation is required.
