Snälltåget opens new line Malmö – Gothenburg – Oslo
From June 15, 2026, you will be able to travel directly between Malmö and Oslo with Snälltåget. Snälltåget night train service Berlin – Hamburg – Copenhagen – Malmö – Stockholm will connect to the new service in Malmö, which makes it easier for people from Europe going to and from Gothenburg and Oslo.
- “We see a potential in increased train travel in the corridor Copenhagen – Malmö – Gothenburg – Oslo, not at least for tourist travel,” says Marco Andersson, Commercial manager at Snälltåget. “We believe that direct trains, improved comfort in carriages designed for long-distance travel, and a restaurant carriage are crucial for the train to gain market share on this route”, Marco continues.
- “The possibility to book your train journey, even on from Berlin and Hamburg, online in one place will contribute to increased market share for train travel,” Marco continues.
Snälltåget’ s restaurant carriage “Krogen” will be included on the new Oslo–Gothenburg–Malmö trains. It will also be possible to travel in your own compartment, which is perfect for families with children and for those who want to travel together.
The daily train departs from Oslo S in the afternoon and arrives at Malmö C in the evening, while the train in the other direction departs from Malmö C in the morning and arrives at Oslo S at lunchtime. Trains also stop in Fredrikstad, Sarpsborg, Trollhättan, Gothenburg-Gamlestaden, Gothenburg-Mölndal, Varberg, Halmstad, Helsingborg, and Lund. See the timetables below for more details.
In Gothenburg the train stops in Mölndal and Gamlestaden, instead of Gothenburg Central Station. From both Mölndal and Gamlestaden, you can easily continue your journey with Västtrafik, by tram or commuter train to the city centre, the amusement park Liseberg, or on to your destination.
Ticket sales open today at 9:00 a.m. on Snälltåget.se.
