Over 12,000 participants from 96 countries flocked to San Jose at the southern tip of Silicon Valley to take the pulse of the cloud, to network and make deals at the mega-conference SaaStr 2019, the biggest event in the world for the SaaS industry. As the healthcare industry grows and tech giants are moving into the market, what used to be smartwatches and fitness trackers are turning into health monitors and medical devices as a new health ecosystem emerges. This is a logical development as consumers take more control over their health, and new players offer new products and services.
Amazon Web Services, or AWS in short, is at the center of the digitalisation of everything, and AWS Summit in Stockholm is Amazon’s biggest Nordic event with over 5,000 visitors. The reason, of course, is that 2018 is the year AWS, the world’s largest cloud, is launching three new data centers in the Stockholm region, to serve all of the Nordics.
The global cloud market is expected to double in size in the coming years to some $400 billion. This quiet revolution is driven by the transformation of IT to services, the need to handle IT security and also by flexibility and innovation. In Sweden, one of the clouds services, Amazon Web Services (AWS), is expected to launch in 2018 with three new data centers.
We entered SLUSH 2017 together with 20,000 other excited tech heads – with the aim to drive change and to join the movement in supporting the next generation of groundbreaking founders. The line-up was impressive to say the least – over 2,600 startups and 1,500 VCs from over 130 countries as well as CEOs and Founders of leading global tech companies were brought together in Helsinki.
