Actor Sir Anthony Hopkins is honoured with Stockholm Lifetime Achievement Award 2022

He is the baker’s son from Wales who took Hollywood with storm. During his six decades as an actor Hopkins has given life to a long row of real life figures on the silver screen; Richard Nixon, Alfred Hitchcock, Pablo Picasso, Narnia author CS Lewis and pope Benedict XVI.

His two most iconic roles, Hannibal Lecter in >Silence of the Lambs< and the dutiful butler in >The Remains of the Day<, have forever cemented him as a central figure in film history. Sir Anthony Hopkins has received his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and been knighted by Queen Elizabeth for his services within the arts.

This year’s Stockholm Lifetime Achievement Award is presented to Sir Anthony Hopkins with the following motivation:
In the role of cannibal, cardinal, or butler; this acting titan lifts every scene he’s in through his on-screen magnetism, vibrant presence and unmatched charisma. He’s a force of nature on the silver screen, who's iconic performances have forever made their mark in film history and our collective memory. Stockholm Lifetime Achievement Award 2022 is awarded to one of our time’s most prominent actors, Sir Anthony Hopkins.

During this year’s film festival Hopkins is starring in The Son by Florian Zeller, playing another fatherly figure as he did in the lauded The Father (2020) – the film for which Hopkins was awarded his second Oscar Statuette.

The Son will have its Nordic premiere Saturday the 12th at 6 PM at Cinema Skandia. In conjunction with the premiere, the audience will meet Hopkins in a digital conversation.

The Stockholm Lifetime Achievement Award is presented to a person active in film whose life's work deserves to be illuminated and honored. The prestigious prize, the 7.3-kilogram Bronshästen (Bronze Horse) – the world's heaviest film prize – is a paraphrase of the Swedish Dalecarlian horse and was created by Swedish designer Fredrik Swärd. The prize has previously been awarded great names within the film industry such as Lauren Bacall, David Lynch, Francis Ford Coppola, Martin Scorsese, Susan Sarandon and Paul Schrader to name a few
