Egghead Republic is the winner of Peroni 0.0% Audience Award 2025
This year’s most trippy, Swedish sci-fi film Egghead Republic is the winner of the Peroni 0.0% Audience Award 2025. The director duo Pella Kågerman and Hugo Lilja are the married couple who’s behind this crowd pleaser about forbidden zones, psychedelic experiences, mythological creatures and – mildly put – some very peculiar news reporting.
During Friday's award ceremony, the Stockholm Film Festival's jury presented this year's winners. Now the audience has also chosen the winner for one of the most important prizes awarded during the festival, the Peroni 0.0% Audience Award. The festival visitors have been able to vote both digitally and physically in the cinemas, for the 135 films shown between November 5–16, 2025.
Egghead Republic is a post-apocalyptic indie sleaze flick from the couple behind the acclaimed space dystopic Aniara (2018). TV4 Rising Star nominee Ella Rae Rappaport plays the young club girl and aspiring illustrator Sonja, who’s hired by the hyped magazine Kalamazoo Herald to investigate rumors about unicorns in a futuristic, nuclear bombed Kazakhstan.
Directors Pella Kågerman and Hugo Lilja expressed their joy over the award in the following manner:

Egghead Republic is distributed by Nonstop Entertainment and will premiere in cinemas on November 28, 2025. The Stockholm International Film Festival will be back November 11–22, 2026!
