Here are the winners at Stockholm International Film Festival 2020

Today, 15 winners at the Stockholm International Film Festival 2020 are announced. This year’s big winner is Berlin Alexanderplatz by Burhan Qurbani who is awarded the prestigious Bronze Horse for Best Film and in which lead actor Welket Bungué is awarded Best Actor for his portrayal of the lead character Francis. Mexican director Fernanda Valadez is awarded two Aluminum Horses in the categories Best Director and Best Debut for her film Identifying Features.

Mexican director Michel Franco is presented with this year’s Stockholm Impact Award for his film New Order. The award was founded by Stockholm International Film Festival in collaboration with the City of Stockholm. The winning director receives 1 million SEK and a unique statuette designed by world-famous artist Ai Weiwei.

Actor Lancelot Ncube is named Zalando Rising Star 2020. Director Jo Widerberg wins this year’s scholarship 1 km film for her film Litegrann and an honorary mention was given director SaraKlara Hellström for the film Tvagning. Katherine Waterston is awarded Best Actress for her role in The World To Come. Best Cinematography is awarded Benjamín Echazarreta for the film Memory House. Kaouther Ben Hania is awarded Best Script for The Man Who Sold His Skin and the critically acclaimed documentary film Gunda, by Victor Kossakovsky, is awarded a Bronze Horse for Best Documentary. The film critics also had their say as the FIPRESCI-jury awarded the Korean film The Woman Who Ran, by Hong Sang-soo, Best Film.

New Order, the Impact Award 2020 winning film, is screened at Skandia on Sunday, November 22, at 17:30. Shortly thereafter, the winning film in Stockholm XXXI Competition, Berlin Alexanderplatz, is screened at 20:30. Amongst this year’s winners, Identifying Features, Memory House, Gunda and The Name of the Son are available on Festival on Demand at stockholmfilmfestival.se.

On November 23, this year’s prestigious Audience Award will be revealed. In total, 16 prizes will be presented at the Stockholm International Film Festival 2020.

An additional award, Wild Card, initiated by the Swedish Film Institute, was presented to Elsa Rosengren and Sebastian Johansson Micci. They received 400 000 SEK each for development of their first feature film.
