The film follows a journey which began in this teenager’s family home in Stockholm, Sweden – taking him to absolute fame with millions of fans around the world, and offers from artists such as Frank Ocean.

The world premiere of Yung Lean: In My Head will softly open the Stockholm International Film Festival 2020 on November 7. Tickets for the screening will be released on the film festival's website on Friday, October 16.

Dreamy and violent. Such is the story of how an ordinary Swedish teenager transforms himself and assumes the form of the internationally successful hip hop star Yung Lean. He encounters Los Angeles, cocaine and dollar bills – as well as depression, death and rage. Yung Lean: In My Head is directed by Henrik Burman, with Jonatan Leandoer Håstad in the lead role as Yung Lean. Bigger than life – sadder than Sad Boys.

Yung Lean posted a couple of songs on YouTube in the early 2010s, including Oreomilkshake and Ginseng Strip. They exploded, receiving millions of views and Yung Lean's music became the unofficial leitmotif of Generation Z. Yung Lean was contacted by the biggest names in the industry, everyone from Frank Ocean to Justin Bieber wanted to be associated with the strange and underperforming Swedish teenager. In the new feature film Yung Lean: In My Head, the singer returns to his original form, Jonatan Leandoer Håstad, after recovering from a psychosis.

Yung Lean: In My Head is produced by David Herdies and Michael Krotkiewski for Momento Film and Ludvig Andersson at RMV Film, together with SVT (project manager Emelie Persson), in co-production with Film Capital Stockholm, Lisa Widén and Anette Mattsson. The film has received production support from the Swedish Film Institute, documentary film consultant Klara Grunning. The film will be screened in Swedish cinemas later this year.

Nordic distributor is NonStop Entertainment.
