The winner of Peroni 0.0% Audience Award 2024 is "Emilia Perez"

The centerpiece film of this year, "Emilia Perez" is voted winner of the Peroni 0.0% Audience Award. The French Oscar entry is a spectacular thriller with high-level drama, it is also, somewhat unexpectedly, a musical. The recipient of the Stockholm Visionary Award 2012, Jacques Audiard, has made the most talked about festival film of the year.

During Friday's award ceremony, the Stockholm Film Festival's jury presented this year's winners. Now the audience has also chosen the winner for one of the most important prizes awarded during the festival, the Peroni 0.0% Audience Award. The festival visitors have been able to vote both digitally and physically in the cinemas, for the 135 films shown from 6-17 November 2024.

"Emilia Pérez" is an explosive and innovative mafia musical about trans experiences in Mexico. Zoe Saldaña plays a lawyer who comes into contact with a cartel boss, who not only wants to leave his criminal path, he is also ready to undergo gender reassignment surgery and come out as a woman.

"Emilia Perez" was also awarded the International Film Critics Award (FIPRESCI) which was awarded during the festival. Jacques Audiard commented then: "I am far away, but I want to thank you sincerely - both you, dear festival, and you, dear jury, who have been so kind to Emilia Pérez. I am not here, it is true, but Emilia Pérez is here. I am glad that she touched you so much, and I leave her to you, dear jury, who chose her, and now you too, dear Swedish audience."
