These are the stars of tomorrow: SkyShowtime Rising Star Award 2023 nominees

For the fifteenth year in a row, the Stockholm International Film Festival celebrates unique talents in film and TV through the SkyShowtime Rising Star Award. Swedish actors who have stood out with their achievements during the year are nominated for the prestigious award. The winner will be announced at the festival's awards ceremony on November the 17th and will receive an exclusive trip to the Cannes Film Festival in May 2024.

The jury has carefully gone through Swedish film and TV treasures to single out the most impressive young talents of the year. The result? An intense battle among acting talents, where the winner will be crowned at the festival's prestigious award ceremony.

This year's nominees are:

Bianca Delbravo, 20 (Latest seen in Paradiset brinner)

Felicia Maxime , 23 (Latest seen in Avgrunden)

Hanna Ardéhn, 28 (Latest seen in Leva life)

Jonay Pineda Skallak, 22 (Latest seen in Taelgia)

Malte Gårdinger, 23 (Latest seen in Fejk)

- The process of selecting this year's nominees has been both enjoyable and challenging. In the end, we reached a consensus and are excited to announce them. What I find fantastic about this group of talents is their diversity. Each of them has their own unique expression, and I hope they all continue to remain distinctive in their future performances. says actor Ardalan Esmaili, representative from this year's jury.

The jury that selected the nominees and appoints the winner consists of the new chairman Simon Norrthon (Scen & film), Lisa Rosengren Lagercrantz (Film & TV Producer Center) and  Jan Göransson (Head of Press, Swedish Film Institute). This year the jury is also joined by the actors Nina Zanjani and Ardalan Esmaili. Nina, who is known for her role in ››Wallander‹‹, and many others, can be seen in the new movie ››Familjen Knyckertz och snutjakten‹‹ released later this year. Ardalan has last starred in ››Motståndaren‹‹ and ››A Beautiful Life‹‹ and also in SkyShowtime’s new Swedish-Finnish Original series, ››Codename: Annika‹‹, available to stream exclusively on the service with new episodes added weekly.

Henriette Skov, Regional General Manager - Northern Europe, SkyShowtime said: “We’re delighted to partner with Stockholm International Film Festival to celebrate Sweden’s brightest new talent. Good luck to all of the nominees and a special thank you to Ardalan, star of our recently launched SkyShowtime Original series Codename: Annika, for joining this year’s jury.”

Amongst the previous winners of the SkyShowtime Rising Star Award are Alicia Vikander (2010), Gustav Lindh (2017), Alba August (2018) and last year's winner Sara Shirpey (2022)

This year it is time, yet again, for a new star to be born!
