This year’s winner of the TV4 Rising Star Award 2025

The actor Nils Wetterholm is the recipient of the TV4 Rising Star Award 2025!

He is awarded an exclusive Kosta Boda figurine, designed by Markus Åkesson, as well as a trip to the film festival in Cannes 2026.

The jury’s motivation is as follows:

“This year's Rising Star shines in every scene. With small means, he draws us into the story and keeps us there. It is through our Rising Star that we read the drama – his attentive gaze registers every shift in the story and lets them drive without steering. He leaves room for his fellow actors but at exactly the right moment he takes over with a twist that destabilizes the scene. We love what we see and long for more from 2025's Rising Star, Nils Wetterholm!"

Nils was trained at the Theatre school in Luleå between 2015-2018, and has been working both on stage and within film and television since then. At The Royal Dramatic Theatre in Stockholm he has acted in the play The Inheritance (2024), has also participated in Men Can’t be Raped at Södra Teatern (2019), as well as in productions at Kulturhuset Stadsteatern and The Norrbotten Theatre, among others. Nils can also be seen in tv series such as Caliphate (2020) and Knutby (2021), as well as the feature film The Dance Club (2025), which recently premiered at cinemas in Sweden.

The nominees for the TV4 Rising Star Award are chosen by an expert jury, consisting of chair Simon Norrthon (Swedish Union for Performing Arts and Film), Lisa Rosengren Lagercrantz (Film & TV Producers Association), and Jan Göransson (The Swedish Film Institute). This year’s jury also includes the actors – and previous winners of the Rising Star Award – Adam Lundgren (The Ugly Stepsister, Whiskey on the Rocks) and Celie Sparre (The Truth Will Out, The Meaning of Life).

Previous winners of the TV4 Rising Star Award are, among others, Alicia Vikander (2010), Julia Ragnarsson (2014), Gustav Lindh (2017), Alba August (2018), Edvin Ryding (2021), and Erik Svedberg-Zelman (2024).
