Public Services Summit - international knowledge sharing for better service

On December 9 and 10 the Public Services Summit will be held in Stockholm. The theme for this year's conference is "From Crisis to Opportunity - Reinventing the Public Sector".

Since 2002 the city of Stockholm and Cisco Systems host this annual meeting on how the public sector uses ICT to improve services to citizens.

Stockholm's Mayor Sten Nordin is one of the conference’s keynote speakers. He will speak on the theme "Stockholm - a smart and Sustainable City" corresponding to the two international awards that the City has received, "Intelligent Community of the Year 2009" and "European Green Capital 2010".

230 delegates from 40 countries
About 230 delegates from nearly 40 countries are expected to participate in the conference. Stockholm has chosen to co-host this meeting to improve public sector services through international expert knowledge sharing.

The city of Stockholm hosts two study tour programmes during the summit. The first programme will focus on e-Governance in Stockholm. Delegates will learn about the city's e-strategy, the strategy for Green IT and the city's e-services programme.

The second programme will focus on how the city develops its eco-profile residential areas - Hammarby sjöstad and Stockholm Royal Seaport and how Stockholm is expanding its citywide, standardized and fibre based infrastructure to all apartment blocks and how this enables greener IT.
