​STS Education teams up with Stadmissionen to support Gothenburg community during Covid-19

STS Education has begun a collaboration with Stadsmissionen, a non-profit organisation that conducts support and relief efforts in the Gothenburg area, to help distribute food donations to at-risk individuals and families during the Coronavirus pandemic.

In times of extreme need such as these, when society’s most vulnerable sectors of the population need more support than ever, we consider it our responsibility do our part. For the past several weeks, STS staff have been volunteering to carry out food delivery to at-risk sectors of the population throughout the city of Gothenburg – those who due to increased health risks or financial insecurity are unable to go out to buy food themselves.

Petra King, Global Marketing Director at STS, had this to say about the collaboration: “STS is all about making a difference in people’s lives, and this pandemic has pushed us to search beyond our usual scope to help those in need. We saw an opportunity for all of us based in Sweden to contribute to our society during the Covid-19 pandemic: many families and older people are struggling enormously, and our small contribution can help make the difference to prevent an at-risk family from going hungry. We’re very proud to be working with Stadsmissionen to support our local community in this time of need.”

Camilla Hall, from Stadmissionen, said: “With the distribution of food bags, we want to fulfil our social responsibility and do what we can to both reduce the ongoing spread of infection and protect the most vulnerable people in our community. The people we deliver the food to live with very small financial margins and are having an especially tough time at the moment. With the help of STS Education and other volunteers, we are currently running about 100-150 groceries each week, making a big difference in people’s lives.”

STS Education hopes to expand the scope of our collaboration in the near future by providing tutoring for young students.
