Studiefrämjandet Musik presenterar showcase under Popkomm i Berlin
Tantrum To Blind (Stockholm)
In 2006 faith brought four sixteen year-old strangers together at the Stockholm Conservatory of Music. In a world of jazz and sophistication they all felt a bit different from the crowd, because of their love for a musical genre most other students considered less intellectual. Mike, Dale, Simon and Melanie had been growing up listening to bands like The Vandals, Blink-182, Sum 41, Rufio, Millencolin, The Offspring - the punk/rock scene of the 90's. Soon they found themselves bound together on the path towards their own ideal music - a perfect mix between brains and feel, commercialism and rawness, control and energy.
In the beginning of 2008 Tantrum To Blind was founded and today, two years later, the pieces are finally falling into place. With an intense sound combined with musical quality, an energetic live performance, attitude and hunger, the band is here to stay. They're fast determined to live their lives as Tantrum To Blind, a creative constellation, full of energy and with a power to influence people. The journey has just begun and sky´s the limit.
State Of Grace (Heby)
State of Grace from Sweden play energetic rock with electronical influences. The band started in 2008 and were soon established as a must-see-live band.
State Of Grace Highlights from 2010:
* the release of State of Graces debut album "Gospels in the Wine".
* when State of Grace supported rock legends Status Quo during their summer tour.
Highlights 2011 (so far):
* State of Grace won Sweden's biggest competition for unsigned bands, Rockkarusellen, competing against over 600 other acts.
* the release of their second album - "The United Colors of State of Grace".
* a 20-date tour all over Sweden.
You Say France And I Whistle (Stockholm)
The new Swedish music phenomena. You Say France & I Whistle is an indiepop band from Stockholm that has been around for four years. Still...how many bands have got this:
A full 30 day European tour booked for the fall. Already played 100 shows across Europe. Got Coca Cola to use their song on their biggest campaign worldwide for teenagers. Opened up for Arcade fire on the coolest festival in Sweden this summer. Played on the three biggest festivals in Sweden last year. Got over 6 more commercials aired in USA with their music including McDonalds, GAP, Orbit. Played live on the biggest TV morning show in Sweden. To tour USA in October. Full rotation on Motor FM for their last EP...and just released two EP's and are unsigned. You can't miss You Say France & I Whistle.
Dolly Daggers (Malmö)
Dolly Daggers is one of Sweden's most musically innovative and visually challenging bands. Renowned for their euphoric live performances, hook driven songs with a voluptuous sound and screaming vocals, Dolly Daggers has become one of Sweden's MOST WANTED unsigned bands. Recent gigs at Swedish Festivals Peace & Love, Siesta and NOA-Festival have taken the band to a new level and it's now only a matter of time before lift-off. Delivering the unexpected has become something you can expect from these untamed and utterly spontaneous Swedes.
This Is Head (Malmö)
Swedish disco kraut act This Is Head was brought in to headline this bill and recently released their critically acclaimed album 0001 on Adrian Recordings. The band received Swedish National Radio's "Pop Act Of The Year" award earlier this year, beating other nominees such as Robyn and The Radio Dept. To follow up on these great achievements This Is Head also performed at this year's Roskilde Festival - adding to an already insane European touring schedule.
Popkomm pågår 7-9 september och är en del av Berlin Music Week som genomförs 7-11 september.
