If you are looking for a truly interesting boutique hotel experience, forget metropolises, megacities and hotspots. Stora Hotellet Umeå (“Grand Hotel Umeå”), in the far north of Sweden, has been awarded the prize for Best Newcomer in the World in the prestigious World Boutique Hotel Awards.
Stylt Trampoli, the Swedish concept agency with a reputation for going out on a limb, continues to score accolades on the international scene. On Friday night, the boffinesque bar Cuckoo’s Nest that they designed for the Radisson Blu Riverside Hotel in Gothenburg, Sweden, received the European Hospitality Award for Best Hotel Bar.

Harrys and Stora Hotellet are nominated for Best Graphic Identity in Svenska Designpriset, one of Sweden's best-regarded awards for graphic design. The winner is determined partly through public voting and the result will be announced on 2 October.
