SUBWAY® ANNOUNCES NEW OPERATING AND PPE PROCEDURES

2020-05-18 Today, Subway® announces its new safety measures which are being implemented across all Subway® restaurants, following guidelines from the Swedish government. This has been done in close consultation with industry bodies, guests and Franchise Owners alike. These measures include new fixtures, new directional POP to enforce social distancing measures and the supply of PPE to protect Sandwich Artists™, guests and delivery drivers.

The new safety measures Subway® has introduced are part of the brand’s S.A.F.E. new operational procedures which stands for: Safety Around Foodservice, Enhanced, and are being implemented in all Subway® restaurants across Europe. These procedures ensure Franchise Owners are able to operate and trade responsibly and ensure the continued protection of Sandwich Artists™, third party delivery and supplier drivers, guests and therefore the wider communities in which they serve.

The stringent S.A.F.E measurements include:

●Restaurants will operate with smaller teams to support social distancing and will therefore be providing a reduced menu of Subway® favourites

●All Sandwich Artists™, in addition to their usual gloves and hair protection, will also be supplied with additional protective equipment

o A choice of both disposable and reusable will be provided

o Masks will be provided complete with training instructions to ensure Sandwich Artists™ follow safe placement and removal practices

●Plexiglass barriers have been installed at all till areas

oThe only exception is in France where Sandwich Artists will use individual visors

●Hand sanitiser will be made available for both guests and Sandwich Artists™ to use at the front of each restaurant

●Heightened hourly restaurant hygiene and cleaning practices introduced

●Separate pick-up points for delivery drivers and takeaway collection

●All Sandwich Artists™ will be asked to confirm they are fit and able to work prior to starting their shift

Romina Moradi Country Director, Subway® Sweden:“It is a credit to Subway’s Franchise Owners and their dedicated Sandwich Artists™ that we have been able to safely introduce a new operating framework across all restaurants in order to protect our guests, Sandwich Artists™, delivery drivers and our suppliers, without whom we would not be able to trade. This will enable us to continue to serve our communities and the frontline workers who have helped us all so much in recent weeks.”

“We encourage everyone to use our third party delivery and mobile ordering wherever possible. We will continue to adhere to government guidance and, if required, we will adapt our plans subject to the current fluid situation we find ourselves in.”

Guests can check if there is a Subway® restaurant open in their area by visiting the store locatorhttps://www.subway.com/sv-SE/FindAStore

NB Each country needs to decide whether or not they are mandated

▪ Central recommendation is for the non-surgical masks to be mandated across each county

▪ They can also be used ‘Back of House’ in the food preparation areas where social distance is hard to maintain
