195 figure skating stars to Stockholm March 22-28
It is now official that there will be 195 figure skaters who will participate in the ISU World Figure Championships in Ericsson Globe Arena March 22-28. Preparations are currently underway to offer a safe championship for the skaters and a TV-party for the fans.
The Figure Skating World Championships will be held in the Ericsson Globe Arena in Stockholm March 22-28. Due to the pandemic, there will be no audience, but that has not stopped the world elite from registering for the championship.
– It is fantastic to be able to offer a championship where the world's best figure skaters participate. Even if the audience can’t be present in the Globe, this will be a real TV-party, says Peter Levin, technical manager Stockholm 2021.
Among the world elite can be mentioned:
Men: Yuzuru Hanyu (Japan)
Women: Bradie Tennell (USA)
Couple: Wenjing Sui / Cong Han (China)
Ice dance: Victoria Sinitsina / Nikita Katsalpov (Figure Skating Federation of Russia)
The globe becomes a televised bubble
This year's ISU World Figure Championships will be different from previous years with the pandemic. Being able to carry out the event iina a covid-safe manner is the highest priority. This means that all competitors, their teams and staff around the competition will live in a "competition bubble" with careful PCR-tests and strict rules that ensure that no outsiders enter the bubble. At the same time as the Globe is being prepared to become a safe bubble, a TV-party is being prepared for the viewers on the sofa.
– Even though we can’t offer a figure skating party for an audience in the Globe, we are now investing everything to convey the feeling from the ice to the TV-audience. This championship is of the absolute highest class and I know that the riders are excited to meet their audience, says Ulrika Molin, President Organizing Committee of the ISU World Figure Skating Championships 2021.
All competitions will be broadcast.TV-schedule and programs will be presented shortly.
