TCS awarded Gold Medal Rating in global EcoVadis CSR assessment

  • With the highest rating level, TCS is ranked in the elite top 2% of companies worldwide
  • Recognized for excellence in Environment, Labor Practices and Human Rights, Fair Business Practices and Sustainable Procurement

Helsinki, 08 September, 2015: Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), (BSE: 532540, NSE: TCS) a leading global IT services, consulting and business solutions organization, today announced that TCS, for the second consecutive year, has received a Gold medal rating from EcoVadis, a leading international rating agency which develops global Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) scorecards with ratings that help organizations manage risk.

Following a two-month analysis of CSR practices based on 21 criteria, and for the second consecutive year, TCS has received a Gold medal rating, the highest possible CSR Performance medal from EcoVadis, a result achieved in 2015 by only 5% among the thousands of companies evaluated worldwide by EcoVadis.

In benchmark comparison within its industry, TCS is well ahead of the industry average in all areas assessed, including Environment, Labor Practices and Human Rights, Fair Business Practices, and Responsible & Sustainable Procurement.

In the assessment, TCS was among the top 2% of over a thousand suppliers, and also among the top 2% in the category of computer programming, consultancy and related activities. Furthermore, with a score of 70/100, TCS fulfilled the criteria for Advanced CSR Engagement, based on a structured and proactive CSR approach, engagement and tangible actions, and significant CSR reporting and performance indicators.

“TCS have been regularly assessed by EcoVadis over the past five years. They have increased their score from 56 to 70, and have become a best in class example, ranking in the top 2 per cent of performers. In the Nordics, as a part of its goIT program, TCS has engaged in a joint initiative with two Stockholm schools. The purpose of the goIT program is to boost interest among youth to pursue education in IT, and choose careers in the area. In Finland, TCS has given its support to the Finnish Wheelchair Curling Team and the Finnish Paralympic Team. In Norway, together with Devotek Lab in Kongsberg, TCS has worked to promote interest among young people for a career in technology and IT. In Denmark, TCS helped children to learn programming skills and introduce them to a possible career in the IT industry, through the CODE !T initiative.

TCS has a strong focus on taking care of its people and acting as a responsible supplier constantly raising the bar on employee and customer satisfaction. In Europe, TCS supports more than 40 charities through volunteering, funding and pro bono leveraging of its IT capabilities. As the Title sponsor of TCS Amsterdam Marathon TCS is actively engaged in the fundraising and campaigning for VUmc Cancer Center Amsterdam, which last year alone raised EUR 258,500.
