Press release -

Zpark Energy Systems: An emerging leader in E-mobility

With its roots in electronics development and embedded systems, Zpark was founded with the ambition to develop and introduce the next generation charging solutions and energy systems for real estate.
- Our perspective is to use the existing infrastructure and adapt the technology, not the other way around, co-founder Johan Eriksson says.

Zpark Energy Systems was founded by childhood friends and co-owners Johan Eriksson and Jimmy Abrahamsson, with the ambition to revolutionize the market of charging solutions for all segments within e-Mobility. With roots in electronics development and embedded systems, the company has chosen a technology-heavy approach where they take control of both hardware and software development to achieve cost-effective overall solutions. Their unique approach involves adapting technology to existing infrastructures, and not the other way around.

Use existing infrastructure to their advantage
Zpark was initially born out of a personal need to be able to both charge the electric car and heat it up in the same engine heater post. When co-owner Johan Eriksson bought his first electric car, he wondered why it was not possible to charge the electric cars in existing engine heater posts.

-Everything was actually ready, but it was not possible to buy any component to put on the engine heater post. From there, we started the sketching process on how it could be solved. We managed to solve it so both functions were in the same component - and that's how our best-selling product Zpark Duo was born, which also gave momentum to the company Zpark Energy Systems, co-founder Johan Eriksson says.

Zpark's philosophy is based on that the existing electrical infrastructure in parking lots are enough to support today's charging needs. By adapting the technology to the existing infrastructure and making it available to all, they have succeeded in creating a scalable and affordable solution. Their work has not only benefited vehicle owners, also significantly relieved the electricity grid.

-Our perspective is to use the existing infrastructure and adapt the technology, not the other way around. Previously, a few electric car chargers were built at a time, which becomes expensive. We want to do it cheaply and on a large scale, co-owner Johan Eriksson continues.

Future prospects and innovation
Zpark Energy Systems has not been content with what has already been achieved. With their standout product - Zpark Duo, the company is now looking to expand. The company are about to launch new products in DC charging and batter storage that has the capacity to deliver up to 400 kW of charging power. Most impressively, these products aren't just for the convenience of vehicle owners; they also function as an energy system for properties and a buffer for the electricity grid. Zpark has invested in recruiting talent from heavyweights such as Scania and Koenigsegg, and with this skill boost, they are ready to realize their ambitions and have plans to expand strongly in the upcoming years.

Zpark Energy Systems is not just a company; it is a force driving the e-mobility sector forward. By using existing resources and adapting technology, they have not only made electric car charging possible, they have also created a future where charging infrastructure is an integral part of our everyday lives. That thinking is today the basis of Zpark's entire philosophy, and today, a few years later, the company has over 30 people working with Zpark and charging stations all over Sweden. Zpark today has offices in Luleå, Umeå and Gothenburg in Sweden as well as California in the USA and manufacturing in Luleå and Haparanda. With a strong vision and competence as a driving force, Zpark Energy Systems is on its way to becoming one of the leading players in e-mobility and energy solutions for properties.
