The Eco Design Initiative promotes sustainable design as the precursor to social, environmental and economic well-being. Activities are hosted as a skills and culture exchange between young designers in Sweden and South Africa and are arranged to respond to 3 key themes: EDUCATE / EXCHANGE / EXHIBIT

The Eco Design Initiative will host the Fresh Talent Workshop and the launch of Sustainable Design Showcase at Cape Town City Hall and the social design intervention at Sakumlandela Primary School in Khayelitsha, 7 – 16 March 2012.

  • Social Design for Sustainability - with the kids of Sakumlandela

    Young learners at Skumlandela Primary School in Khayelitsha are actively involved in the planning and preparation of the social design action that's to take place in Cape Town in March 2012 as part of the Eco Design Initiative. Armed with specially designed investigative tool-kits, the young learners have been documenting information about their lives at home, school and in their communities.
