The Sustainable Design Showcase is an interactive experience that shows sustainable design as the precursor to social, environmental and economic well-being. Sharing culture, knowledge, attitudes and experiences between South African and Scandinavian participants, the exhibition is like a traveling story-teller. The Sustainable Design Showcase is produced by the Eco Design Initiative in collaboration with the Swedish Industrial Design Foundation and INDEX: Design to Improve Life and is supported by the South African Department of Arts & Culture, the Swedish Institute, the Swedish Arts Council and the City of Malmö.

  • Social Design for Sustainability - with the kids of Sakumlandela

    Young learners at Skumlandela Primary School in Khayelitsha are actively involved in the planning and preparation of the social design action that's to take place in Cape Town in March 2012 as part of the Eco Design Initiative. Armed with specially designed investigative tool-kits, the young learners have been documenting information about their lives at home, school and in their communities.
