New tenant in Tomteboda: Global vaccine player moves into the train hall

Valneva Sweden AB, a subsidiary of specialty vaccine Company Valneva SE, has signed a ten-year lease of approximately 4,000 square meters. In the former train hall, the Swedish entity will fill vials with COVID-19 vaccine and the Cholera vaccine DUKORAL®, as well as distribute packaged products. Occupancy will start during the first quarter of 2021. JLL has the rental assignment for the property.

Valneva SE is running a global vaccine project for COVID-19. API (Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient) is produced in Valneva’s facilities in Scotland and shipped to Sweden. Filling in vials as well as final packing and logistics of the vaccine will be handled by Valneva Sweden AB in the newly renovated premises in Tomteboda. The company's cholera vaccine DUKORAL® will also be filled, packed and distributed here for the global market. Valneva Sweden currently comprises 170 employees.
- At Valneva, we have the entire value chain, from manufacturing of APIs to finished products as well as packaging and distribution for various markets. In addition to the commercial production of own vaccine, clinical trial material for vaccines is manufactured on a contract basis in Sweden. The train hall with its unique architecture, ceiling height and large areas enables the establishment of a modern and fully integrated production line with the highest capacity. The proximity to our existing production facility, the design of the premises and a good collaboration with our new landlord to achieve business-necessary adaptations were crucial to our choice, says Janet Hoogstraate, Chair Management Board Valneva Sweden AB.

Tomteboda has undergone extensive modernization work in recent years. Great focus has been placed on service and sustainability for the tenants. At present, for example, work is underway to establish the largest single photovoltaic plant in Stockholm County.
- We are proud to be part of such an exciting and successful real estate project as Tomteboda and contribute with long-term tenants. Demand for good space in the industrial and logistics segment has recently increased sharply and now the rental work continues with the few areas we have left in the property, says Theodor Jarnhammar, Head of Office and Industrial Leasing at JLL.


When Valneva Sweden AB moves in, they accompany the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency, the Thorengruppen with four school concepts and PostNord. In 2021, SL will also move in.
