London-bandet Formation släpper deras debutalbum med titeln 'Look At The Powerful People' den 24 mars. De kommer ge sig ut på en turné i UK samma månad och Europa i maj.
Formation startade när Will och Matt Ritson började experimentera och improvisera fram 3 minuters långa poplåtar tillsammans. Ganska snabbt exploderade det i något ännu djupare och mörkare och strax därefter anslöt Jonny Tams (bas), som tillbringade sina tonår med att mixtra med söndriga syntar innan han fick arbeta med artister som Björk och Russell Haswell. Kai Akinde-Hummel (trummor) hade en musikalisk farfar som var en del av den nigerianska trumpetaren, Dr.Victor Olaiya’s band och Sash Lewis på synth har tidigare jobbat med artister som Caribou and Floating Points.
Det efterlängtade debutalbumet ‘Look At The Powerful People’ som släpps i mars är samproducerad med Adele och The Strokes-ingenjören Ben Baptie samt House-producent och DJ'n Leon Vynehall.
Formation är något annat. Något riktigt. Något du kan lita på. De har inspirerats av Stax och Curtis Mayfield, Pantera och Sly Stone, Gil Scott Heron och Vaughan Williams. Look at The Powerful People är, summerat av bandmedlemmen Matt Ritson, “a diverse record from diverse people for a diverse crowd”.
