Wirtgen Group City expands to new dimensions

Five product brands, 11,712 m² of exhibition space, 1,200 m² Skywalk, 93 exhibits and 30 trade fair premieres: To present its full range of products and services, the Wirtgen Group's exhibition area at bauma 2016 was expanded again both out and up. Wirtgen Group City lured countless visitors to the South Exhibition Ground.

360 degrees of Road and Mineral Technologies

The Wirtgen Group appeared together with Benninghoven for the first time at bauma 2016. The group of companies now is capable of serving the entire process chain in road construction with its own technologies, from processing, mixing and paving, to compacting and rehabilitation. The exhibition area was designed to reflect the “life cycle” of road construction. The Skywalk, located 5 m up in the air, connected the Wirtgen Group's main pavilion with the respective Technology Centers for the five product brands: Wirtgen, Vögele, Hamm, Kleemann and Benninghoven. This 360° setup gave visitors an overview of each and every process step in road construction. And many took advantage of the opportunity to get a closer look at the Group's expertise in developing solutions: At the machine exhibition, in the Technology Centers, in the special presentations and in personal talks with the Wirtgen Group's international applications specialists.

World premieres and leading technologies

The world premieres and machine product innovations from Wirtgen, Vögele, Hamm, Kleemann and Benninghoven were the undisputed favorites among visitors. They were equally impressed by Wirtgen's most powerful cold milling machine in the compact class, the W 150 CFi; Vögele's brand-new, special class SUPER 21003 IP InlinePave train with numerous innovative features from its “Dash 3” generation; Hamm's HD+ 90i PH VO Hybrid articulated tandem roller with Power Hybrid; Kleemann's MOBICONE MCO 11 PRO cone crusher designed for processing natural rock; and Benninghoven's 48-m-high BA 4000 RPP asphalt mixing plant.

In the Technology Centers, the Wirtgen Group displayed the pioneering technologies that make each of the five product brands leading specialists in their respective fields. Here, visitors could quite literally "grasp" how much the products are tailored to conditions in practice.

For instance, in the Wirtgen Technology Center, six stations provided detailed information on the innovative machine control technologies used by the market leader in its small, compact and large milling machines.

Vögele presented its RoadScan non-contacting temperature measurement system, which can be used with all Vögele pavers in the “Dash 3” generation and measurably improves paving quality.

Visitors gained hands-on experience at Hamm's Technology Center, where they could stand on an operator's platform and see just how user-friendly a Hamm roller is to operate thanks to the Easy Drive operating concept.

Kleemann concentrated on the technical highlights of its innovative EVO generation and demonstrated how the flexible EVO crushers efficiently tackle the processing of natural rock and recycled material.

At the Benninghoven Technology Center, the main topics were: how to responsibly manage resources when recycling reclaimed asphalt, and the associated cost-efficient dosing systems in asphalt mixing plants.

This transfer of know-how was rounded out by special presentations from the product brands located around the exhibits. These provided information on the Group's other core competences.

Close to our customers5

The Wirtgen Group's theme at this year's bauma was "Close to our customers5". And that includes more than just innovative products and technologies, as the group of companies emphasized in various special presentations on topics such as customer support.

To help its customers worldwide face a variety of challenges, the Wirtgen Group offers extensive services and an abundance of know-how, from financing, applications consulting and machine operator certification, to full OEM equipment supply and support in the event of technical problems.

This kind of close customer support also was evident in the personal talks on the Wirtgen Group's exhibition area. The Wirtgen Group had the right experts assembled in Munich to help customers from all markets around the globe. In in-depth technical discussions, they provided information on the wide range of products and services for both business sectors: Road and Mineral Technologies. The Wirtgen Group's exhibition area became a real industry meeting point, thanks to this collaborative exchange between customers, trade professionals and the specialists from Wirtgen, Vögele, Hamm, Kleemann and Benninghoven.
