Reliefed and Exagres launch a joint project, financed by the Swedish Energy Agency, to reduce CO₂ emissions in ceramic tile manufacturing.

In a soft-funded project, supported by the Swedish Energy Agency, Reliefed Technologies will demonstrate the potential of the z.trusion® technology to reduce CO₂ emissions in the ceramic brick and tile industry. Together with the Spanish company Exagres, the objective is to reduce energy consumption in tile production by up to 50% and decrease the required materials by 10–20%, and thereby improving sustainability in the process.

In September, a delegation from Reliefed visited Exagres' headquarters in Betxí, Spain, where they met with the Exagres team and began initial discussions on developing a new generation of ceramic floor and wall tiles. The collaboration focuses on replacing energy-intensive production methods with the z.trusion® technology, in a more efficient process.

“We are excited to collaborate with Exagres to broaden the usage of the z.trusion® technology in the ceramic tile industry. This project presents a unique opportunity to significantly reduce energy consumption and material waste, addressing key challenges in tile manufacturing. We’re confident that this partnership will demonstrate real progress in reducing CO₂ emissions and advancing sustainable production practices”, says Mark J. Kragh, Chief Innovation Officer at Reliefed.

"At Exagres, we're thrilled to partner with Reliefed Technologies and integrate their innovative z.trusion® technology into our production process. This collaboration makes a direct impact by allowing us to reduce CO₂ emissions and material usage. Together, we're enhancing the sustainability of our eco-friendly floor and wall tile solutions, offering products that are not only durable and aesthetically flawless but also kinder to the environment." – Javier Ten, CEO Exagres

The project is expected to provide Important insights regarding the improvement of production efficiency and the reduction of environmental impact. It also marks a significant step toward demonstrating z.trusion® as a valuable solution for sustainable manufacturing.
