Accor’s first Novotel in Myanmar debuts in Inle Lake
Accor, the largest international hotel operator in Asia Pacific, announces the opening of Novotel Inle Lake Myat Min, the first Novotel hotel in Myanmar. Located on the east bank of the tranquil Inle Lake, this newly-built resort hotel is the perfect accommodation for both domestic and international travellers visiting this region.
Patrick Basset, Chief Operating Officer for Accor Thailand, Vietnam, South Korea, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and the Philippines, said, “We are excited and proud to introduce the first Novotel in Myanmar at this serene destination of Inle Lake. This hotel will redefine the concept of Novotel’s resort hotels and showcase the brand’s renowned quality, modernity and comfort. With the opening of this resort, we aim to entice more discerning travellers to visit this beautiful natural attraction.”
Mr Alain Miquel, General Manager of Novotel Inle Lake Myat Min, said “Inle Lake is a unique destination in Myanmar that travellers should not miss. Its natural sanctuary is one of eco-tourism’s most popular destinations in the region. Novotel Inle Lake Myat Min recognizes the importance of biodiversity and unique natural resources, and therefore integrated Accor’s PLANET 21 sustainability programme in the resort’s operational procedures and also introduces one of the country’s most sophisticated waste water treatment systems at the resort.”
Novotel Inle Lake features 122 spacious guestrooms, of which 120 are Junior Suites and Lake Villas, with two Presidential Villas. The guestrooms are spaciously designed and offer a comfortable, relaxed ambience and modern amenities. The contemporary-designed villas are set on a tranquil lake, each with its own separate bedroom and living area.
The resort also offers a wide selection of F&B venues. The Terrace Restaurant serves a variety of Asian and international specialties while the Sunset Restaurant offers a la carte menu with a walk-in wine cellar and overlooks the lake where guests can enjoy a perfect evening sunset across the skyline.
The Pool Bar and the Sunset Bar are ideal places to relax and unwind while enjoying a selection of beverages and light snacks. Other facility highlights include an outdoor pool, fitness centre and spa facility. The resort also offers boat excursions around the area.
Inle Lake is the country’s second largest freshwater lake located in the Nyaungshwe Township in Shan State. The people of the Inle Lake, called “Intha” come from a mixture of ethnicities living in four cities bordering the lake. As the lake is covered by reeds and floating plants, local fishermen are known for their distinctive rowing style which involves them standing at the stem on one leg to see their path and an oar wrapping around another leg to row. Although the most popular mode of transportation to the resort is by boat, the resort is also accessible by road.
