Exciting contents for launch issue of SinoShip magazine

SinoShip's debut issue sees its network of 12 correspondents fan out wide across Greater China to provide unique insights into how shipping will fare in the Year of the Dragon.

           • Top economists provide analysis on the health of economy, while our commodities focus this issue looks at grain, and why imports of this foodstuff are growing amid a dwindling water table at home.

            • The cover story contains an interview with the head of the fast rising 15-year-old Shanghai Shipping Exchange on how the city and the exchange have changed world shipping.

            • 2012 will be the year of the greatest consolidation for Chinese shipbuilders and SinoShip will crunch the numbers for readers and suggest what the future will look like for this hard-pressed sector.

            • Our regular Offshore section looks at OSV construction, a rare bright spot for builders and a sector the Chinese have come to dominate.

            • Providing a hard edged view on prospects for foreigners looking at China to save the shipping market is none other than the boss of BW, Dr Helmut Sohmen, who warns readers not to rely solely on China to dig the industry out of its current malaise.

            • Shipowner profiles of some of the very top names in the People's Republic are included as are features on ship repair, breakbulk and what Singaporean companies are doing to further foster China ties.

            • The magazine is rounded off with columnists from Hong Kong and Beijing providing contrasting viewpoints on China's place in world shipping.

Comments founding editor Sam Chambers: “What readers hopefully will like with our attitude to coverage is the breadth, not just geographic and sectoral, but also in dissenting views to go alongside the bullish mainstream on matters China maritime. Likewise, the weight of the first issue, clocking in at around 80 pages is a strong statement of intent with how we want to cover things in depth.”

Issue one of SinoShip will be distributed to more than 3,000 maritime professionals including members of the China Shipowners Association (CSA), China Association of the National Shipbuilding Industry (CANSI), Hong Kong Shipowners Association (HKSOA), Taiwan shipowners and includes bonus distribution at:

- BIMCO Annual General Meeting, Singapore

- Seatrade Offshore Marine Asia, Singapore

- IMCA Asia-Pacific Section Annual Meeting, Singapore

- SinoShip Dry Bulk Business Breakfast, Hong Kong

- Tradewinds Shipping China 2012, Shanghai

- CIMPS 2012 - China International Marine Port & Shipbuilding Fair, Nanjing
