Press release -

Changi Airport opens new connector linking to East Coast Park and the nationwide Park Connector Network

Changi Airport Group (CAG) today opened the Changi Airport Connector, a 3.5-kilometre cycling and jogging path that links Changi Airport to East Coast Park and the Park Connector Network (PCN). Mr Ong Ye Kung, Minister for Transport, officiated at the opening.

For the first time, visitors and the airport community can cycle or jog to Changi Airport, with convenient access onwards to Jewel Changi Airport and the terminals. A new route and place for recreational activities, the Changi Airport Connector links the airport to the other attractions on Singapore’s east coast through the PCN managed by the National Parks Board (NParks), offering even more reasons for both locals and travellers to explore the rich charm that the East Coast has to offer.

The Changi Airport Connector is home to the Changi Jurassic Mile -- Singapore’s newest and largest permanent outdoor display of life-sized dinosaurs. More than 20 different pre-historic creatures from nine species are displayed along the one-kilometre cycling and jogging path. From a towering Tyrannosaurus Rex to gigantic dinosaur eggs, visitors will be wowed by the lifelike dinosaur exhibits at the Changi Jurassic Mile, making it a perfect outdoor weekend destination for families, and a tourist attraction when travel resumes. (See Annex A for a sample of the dinosaur exhibits.)

The Changi Airport Connector begins and ends at HUB & SPOKE Changi Airport (HUB & SPOKE), near Terminal 2. This is a new pit stop facility where visitors can rent bicycles, cool off with a shower after exercise, or have a meal with family and friends.

Rent a bike and return it at seven other locations around Singapore

For visitors who wish to cycle from Changi Airport towards East Coast Park and enjoy the sights along the way (see Annex B for map), they can rent bicycles from GoCycling’s newest outlet at HUB & SPOKE and return them at any of the seven other GoCycling outlets around Singapore, such as those at Changi Beach Park and East Coast Park. For the more adventurous, they can even cycle all the way up to Coney Island and Jurong Lake Gardens. Carrying a wide array of bicycles including tandem and children’s bicycles, this GoCycling branch also sells bicycle equipment and offers bicycle repair services.

Besides complimentary bicycle parking, HUB & SPOKE also offers bicycle lockers for rental. Ideal for backpacker travellers who wish to “bike and fly” when travel resumes, users will be able to securely store their bicycles for up to 10 days each time. Those looking to freshen up after their exercise can do so at the pay-per-use showers that come fully equipped with bath amenities and lockers for safekeeping of personal belongings. Other amenities at HUB & SPOKE include a washing point and drinking fountain.

Enjoy local cuisine and comfortable alfresco dining

Nestled at HUB & SPOKE, the HUB & SPOKE Café serves up local and western dishes in a colonial-themed setting, with the option of outdoor alfresco dining where diners can enjoy their meal under a canopy. Apart from classic breakfast options ranging from eggs benedict to kaya toasts, the cafe also serves familiar favourites such as pastas and sandwiches, and laksa and nasi lemak as mains. Those looking for a sweet treat or just to chillax can choose from a range of bubble teas and milk teas, on top of a wide range of local cold and hot drinks. An open-air event space on the lawn just outside the glass house café serves as a quaint venue for cosy gatherings.

Mr Jayson Goh, CAG’s Managing Director for Airport Operations Management said, “We wanted to connect Changi Airport with East Coast Park and the rest of Singapore’s Park Connector Network for the benefit of our airport community and local residents. With the support of NParks and the Singapore Tourism Board, we are now able to offer airport staff an alternative route to get to and from the airport, and a new recreational option for local residents. The new experiential elements injected along the Changi Jurassic Mile will offer all who visit a sense of adventure and surprise. With the Changi Airport Connector, we hope to give visitors a different experience of the airport.”

The Changi Airport Connector, HUB & SPOKE, and Changi Jurassic Mile are accessible via public transport, or via the Changi Coastal Park Connector Extension from East Coast Park. From the Changi Airport MRT and bus stations, visitors can follow the on-ground signage in the direction of Terminal 2. For those arriving by car, they may park at the HUB & SPOKE Car Park located directly opposite HUB & SPOKE.
