7 Ways to Be Eco Friendly at Home

There are many ways to be eco friendly at home. The environment we live in needs to be protected so as to give our children a better living place. Especially as the global demand for energy stuff such as petrol, timber and natural resources increases, the need to be eco friendly becomes more vital. Aside from using Eco friendly products, we can start helping our environment in these little ways.

1) Use Electricity When Necessary

Switch off the electricity power of any electrical appliance, lights, laptops or phone charger,  when not in use. Not even it helps you to save energy, it also make sure your electricity bill is kept low.

2) Recycled Carrying Bags

Most plastic bags are non-biodegradable; in which it cannot be decomposed. It will means that by dumping plastics bags and bottles into the environment, it will cause unnecessary landfill. Hence, take it a habit to used recycled carrying bags for your groceries. Add some design to the bags to give it a cool image.

3) Allow Natural Daylight / wind into your home

Make use of natural daylight when necessary. For electrical lights and lamps, you can reserve that for night time. Daylight brings Vitamin D, while natural wind breeze makes your home indoor environment cooler; both little way helps to save energy.

4) Use Green Solar Energy

Solar energy is a natural source of energy that stores light from the sun and turn it into energy in the home. In Singapore, using of solar energy is still in the premature stage but we have seen some little advancement. Solar tea lights, is one example. It creates a LED lighting kind of romantic feel to your ambience. 

5) Use Eco friendly home products 

Use eco friendly household products such as your detergents, washing liquids and other things. Although it may cost a little bit more than others, but it does contribute a little help to the environment if every home owner does their little part.

6) Eco Flooring plays a part too

Eco flooring helps in three ways. Firstly, it makes sure that the forest timber supply is kept constantly in a sustainable manner. Secondly, it makes sure that indoor air quality is kept at healthy safe levels. And thirdly, it makes sure that the flooring products can be recycled or reused at the end life stage. 

7) Sort and Recycle

Take some time to sort your rubbish into paper, plastic and glass/metal products. Although it is rather time consuming to do that, this little practice will ensure that the environment is kept in safe mode.
