Common Types of Eco Flooring in Singapore

Society advances with the increase in demand for Eco-conscious products in the global consumer market; this is because eco friendly products help the environment in many ways such as the reduction in carbon footprint, the use of sustainable resources also protects vulnerable raw materials from depleting; eco products also helps to make air quality relatively better too.

What about eco flooring? Rather we say that in ASEAN countries including developed Singapore, Eco flooring is still on its infancy. However, we do see an increase in consumer demand for Eco flooring especially from the more Eco and health councious consumers group. 

The four most common types of Eco flooring are as follows:

i) Engineered Wood Flooring

Engineered wood, also known as "sandwich" wood gives the home owner the luxury, feel and look of real wood without burning the budget. Responsible engineered wood flooring products manufacturers will usually source their wood materials from sustainable forests thereby help to safeguard the green upkeep of the forest. You name it, you will have it. Even the most exotic, cartoons printed, psychedelic kind of designs is also available in some good laminate flooring brands today. 

Well, it gives the consumer a wider range of designs compare to the good old ceramic tiles and parquet. Good quality laminate flooring products are highly cost efficient. One common sight, you will find is that many range of retailers in Singapore mostly have laminate flooring in their commercial shops and outlets. 

iii) High End Resilient Flooring

The latest entrant into the local flooring market is high end resilient flooring. It came in as a strong substitute to traditional laminate flooring and wood parquet due to its 100% waterproof feature. One reason why it is consider as an Eco flooring is because the home owner can actually use the flooring for long period of time, even at the point of moving houses, the home owners can also "bring along" their existing high end resilient flooring too!

iv) Other types of Indoor Eco Flooring

There is a trend in overseas indoor flooring products for rare Eco flooring products such as cornwood, cork flooring as well as linoleum. These types of flooring are still not yet established but may have a market as consumers are getting more Eco-councious. However, it may still in the long way as such flooring may not be suitable for local tropical climate in Southeast Asia where the temperature is changing constantly.

v) Natural Wood Decking

Wood decking is getting more popular in Singapore as new private and public apartments are starting to have balcony and planters areas. It gives the home owners and their family members a different way of appreciating nature at its doorstep.
