How to Authenticate High End Resilient Flooring (HERF)?

Just like buying leather products, they are genuine ones and they are the non-genuine ones. Likewise for flooring, it is very important to look into what you are buying as it will be something that is permanent in the home.

To authenticate genuine quality high end resilient floor (HERF) products from the non-genuine ones, home owners may need to look into these following details.

Health Standard

Air quality is something that is unseen with the naked eye but it is also highly important especially when most of us stayed in indoor enclosed areas. Ask the supplier for these following documents and reports such as whether the floorboard has passed any form of Volatile Organic Compound test, SVHC (Substance of Very High Concern) test as well as whether the flooring product has at least an E1 rating based on european standard for Formaldehyde emission. There

Detect for any Smell

Good quality and genuine high end resilient flooring (HERF) products are usually odourless when you hold a sample of the floorboard close to your nose literally. On the other hand for lower quality or non-genuine high end resilient flooring, it will comes with a 'soapy' or 'plasticky' smell. This is probably due to the composite balance of the flooring material during production. Such smell will be obvious when the flooring is installed in enclosed areas (window closed) for a period of days; for example when the home owners are away for holidays.

Coating May Be Different

Ask about the coating layer for the flooring. Genuine quality high end resilient flooring (HERF) has a layer of ceramic beaded coating to enhance its scratch and impact resistance. Whereas for non-genuine resilient floor, it is usually covered with a polyurethane (PU) layer which may not be as strong as the ceramic beaded coating. It

Track Record

In summary, another way to also check out the credibility and the track record of the resilient flooring contractor or the manufacturer that you dealt with. Do your own research and due diligence before making the decision to buy the flooring. Making the right decision will therefore ensure long term quality for the flooring and your home living lifestyle!
