Press release -

Wood For Marina Decking? Is It Possible?

Traditionally, wood is not advisable for marina decking such as jetty construction and canal sidings; this is because constant contact with water and salt will destroy conventional wood eventually. Hence, most shipping decks are usually made of composite, pontoon or fibreglass decking. With the breakthrough in technology, Accoya® wood is the first natural Eco wood that is very durable and can be used around saltwater.

Comparing Accoya® wood with composite wood for marina decking,  Accoya® wood will be a much more preferred choice for the pro eco-environmental activist. This is because, it is natural and it will not trap heat from the scorching sun; it is also non-toxic compared to carbon intensive materials such as wood plastic composite.

Today, we are starting to see a trend in the demand for green building and architecture around Southeast Asia; at the same time, marina decking is also getting popular in developed Asean countries developments such as Sentosa Cove and the new Punggol Marina Centre in Singapore. Accoya® wood will therefore play an important role in advocating green building for Asean marina architecture in time to come.

Moreover, Accoya® wood is also fully recyclable and reusable. What it means to you is that, it will bring not about waste to the global landfill and thus contributes to the prevention of global warming; hence, natural resources can be protected and renewed.

Being environmentally conscious, it is a neither easy nor difficult task. All it takes is just a little effort and a change of habit in choosing eco friendly building products whether for marina decking and other architecture construction purposes.
