ShowNearby Pte Ltd: Showing you more options: ShowNearby’s latest app release gives users more choices
ShowNearby Pte Ltd releases version 1.6 update of popular app, ShowNearby, promising to a one-stop utility app.
The latest update of the ShowNearby app will change the way information-seekers use mobile location-based services.
ShowNearby Pte Ltd, which develops the mobile application, has released the latest update of the app aimed to allow users to not only search and receive information, but also take action.
The app is enhanced with deepened data and options to make bookings and transactions.
The app now allows users to make movie bookings, taxi bookings, view bus route information and Singapore Pools lottery results, among a host of other improvements.
Users can access selected movie theatres (Shaw and Cathay) to view movie timings and book movie tickets.
The app provides users with a fuss-free avenue to book taxis under Comfort Delgro. User location will automatically be detected via a combination of wifi, 3G and GPS. All the user has to do is confirm location and contact details.
The app is also popular with those who commute by public transport. This update provides bus service details, on top of arrival timings.
Another much demanded feature from ShowNearby users is lottery result information. These are now available at all Singapore Pools points of interest in the app.
The app has undergone many updates to accommodate user feedback and to enrich the information it features. It became the top app in the App Store in December for the Top 25 and Travel Categories.
ShowNearby has over 400,000 downloads and is used by 125,000 Singaporeans daily. The startup currently has over 200 business partners across a variety of industries. Businesses now run location and time-sensitive campaigns on the ShowNearby platform.
The startup was invested by Global Yellow Pages for $3.5 million last July. ShowNearby is also a partner of the Digital Concierge Programme, an Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) initiative for mobile integration.
The app previously served users with information on nearby points of interest, sorted by categories. Within months, more information and features have been added to the app to make it a one-stop for information-seeking Singaporeans, making ShowNearby Singapore’s leading location-based service provider.
ShowNearby has also collaborated with the National Heritage Board and the National Library Board and has released the “Museum” and “Library” categories in this update.
"This update is more than just bug fixes, but takes into account a lot of our user feedback. Our users play a huge role in the development of the app. With their feedback and suggestions, they help the app stay relevant," says ShowNearby CEO Douglas Gan, who was recently awarded Young Professional of the Year by the Singapore Computer Society.
Version 1.6 of ShowNearby is now available for download on Apple’s App Store, Android Market and BlackBerry App World. Existing ShowNearby users can simply update their app.
ShowNearby is Singapore’s leading location-based service provider, with a suite of services on web and mobile.
