Press release -
Ministry Of Health (MOH): Health Budget 2011
While we have made good progress in our healthcare, Health Minister still has more in mind on how we can transform Singapore healthcare to be among the best in the world. This as he lays out the plans and the Ministry’s health agenda in his speeches in Parliament 4 Mar.
High on his agenda are infrastructure development, long term care, and integrated healthcare, realising the vision of bringing healthcare close to residents in each region of Singapore while making quality healthcare affordable to all Singaporeans. (“With Wisdom, Realism and Humanity”). Strengthening our community support to help mental patients integrate back into the community is another of the Ministry’s focus this year. This includes scaling up mental health programmes and building a network through neighbourhood social services, GPs, polyclinics, and other care centres (‘Mental Health, Special Needs and TCM”). Health promotion and encouraging a healthy lifestyle to help all Singaporeans “Live Long and Live Well” are also important. Encouraging a ground-up approach and empowering all to be responsible for their own health, MOH will also look into better workplace & school health.
