News Release: Fabric from Woodville Collection, Zoffany, Goodrich

Woodville fabric collection by Zoffany was designed by mural artist, Rosie Mennem, displaying her contemporary mural style of painting in this classic chinoiserie layout of a peony trail with blossoms and birds. Woodville is printed in three colourways on a blend of linen and viscose, a softly textured cloth that has the look and handle of pure linen but without the creasing.

The designs in the collection include

The three colourways of Woodville Silk, screen printed using a technique which beautifully captures the hand-painted spontaneity of the original artwork with opaque inks contrasting with the lustre of the silk taffeta ground.

Phoebe is a design of magnificent peony blooms which was painted by Lorraine Breger using a traditional water colour technique. Layers of colour were painstakingly applied to create the subtlest shade of pink to rich carmine hues. The five colourways are digitally printed on fine linen and range from vivid pinks and yellows, chintzy sky blue and pink, to the vintage colourways of lilac and peach.

Romey’s Garden is designed by up and coming South African artist, Kelly Higgs, who specializes in floral paintings and displays her love of the flora and fauna found in her native land. This exquisitely painted design features arrangements of peony branches and foliage in Chinese vases with hovering butterflies and birds.

Magnolia Bough is taken from a 19th century printed textile in the Zoffany archive. The design is woven to create a distinctive ‘ikat’ effect. The subtlety of the print mark gives it a very sophisticated air. It is woven in 100% cotton in three serene colourways.

Alyce is an elegant embroidery design of delicate trailing filigree flowers on a linen and polyester ground. It is available in three colours.
