MHE-DEMAG’S RM6 MILLION TELESCOPIC GONDOLA SYSTEM SUCCESSFULLY INSTALLED AT AWARD WINNING RESIDENCE, THE TROIKA

MHE-Demag, the market leader in ASEAN for the provision of material handling equipment, and a joint venture between Jebsen & Jessen (SEA) Pte Ltd and Demag Cranes & Components Gmbh, has successfully installed a RM6 million building maintenance system at the Foster + Partners designed The Troika luxury condominiums, one of the most luxurious developments in Malaysia.

The order comprised of three units of Manntech Type-3 telescopic gondolas and several Chameleon cradles on a monorail. The gondolas had to be custom-designed as The Troika features an intricate and complicated building structure with many recess areas. Scissor cradles were introduced to allow the cradle to reach three metres into the recess areas such as areas underneath balconies and other overhangs. The gondolas are equipped with a Glass Replacement Unit (GRU), which can safely carry glass panels weighing up to 200kg. This makes it secure and convenient to maintain the façade even when a window breaks.

MHE-Demag’s telescopic gondola system, which is highly specialised and developed by MHE-Demag’s design team, won the bid after a successful four way pitch with manufacturers from Australia, Spain and Singapore.

“A custom-designed, state-of-the-art building maintenance had to be developed to meet the unique requirements of The Troika,” said Sales Division Manager, Mr Siddhartha Somu. “The system was installed over a period of 14 months and with proper operation and maintenance, the equipment can last more than 30 years.”

The Troika, located close to the iconic Petronas Towers, is one of the most prestigious addresses in the city. Consisting of three residential towers ranging from 38 to 50 storeys, The Troika has bagged several international architecture awards. It joins other signature projects in the region designed by Foster + Partners such as HSBC Tower in Hong Kong and the Supreme Court in Singapore.

Co-architects for The Troika are GDP Architects and the project was developed by Bandar Raya Developments Berhad (BRDB).
