DPM Tharman opens Singapore landmark – Ocean Financial Centre in a spectacular light-up ceremony

Mr Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance and Manpower, opened the Ocean Financial Centre in a special light-up ceremony witnessed by senior management from the Keppel Group and about 150 guests from leading business and financial institutions as well as key government agencies.

The dramatic light show was watched by crowds and photographers at various vantage points around Marina Bay and in Raffles Place.

Designed by internationally acclaimed architectural firm, Pelli Clarke Pelli, Ocean Financial Centre is one of the largest office developments in Raffles Place providing about 885,000 sq ft of column-free grade-A office space with premium fittings and finishes.

At the ceremony, Mr Choo Chiau Beng, CEO of Keppel Corporation Limited and Chairman of Keppel Land Limited, said, "I am happy to share that Ocean Financial Centre is more than 80 percent committed, with a stellar line-up of tenants including Australia and New Zealand Banking Group (ANZ), BNP Paribas Singapore, Drew & Napier LLC, Stamford Law Corporation, The Executive Centre, Verizon Communications and DMG & Partners Securities, many of whom have been long-term tenants with us.

"Ocean Financial Centre will continue to set standards as she has through the ages, defining enduring value and leading in efficiency and sustainable development today."

Going beyond regulatory requirements, Ocean Financial Centre sets new benchmarks in sustainable office developments, being the first office building in Southeast Asia to receive the prestigious Platinum Level LEED-CS pre-certification by the internationally recognised Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System and also, the first office development in the Central Business District to achieve the Platinum Green Mark Award conferred by the Building and Construction Authority of Singapore. These accolades are amongst many awards she has garnered for excellence and safety.

In conjunction with the milestone event, DPM Tharman also launched the book, Prime - Pride of Passage, the story of Ocean Financial Centre written by Dr K K Seet. Bearing rich heritage and with a history that spans almost 150 years, Ocean Financial Centre is the fourth in the lineage to rise on the same site at the Singapore waterfront.

Mr Choo said, "The history of Ocean Financial Centre is intertwined not only with Keppel's own but that of many of its corporate tenants, both local and international, who have thrived together with Singapore.

"Ocean Financial Centre has always stood tall amongst some of our city's best-known and cherished landmarks which, over the years, have come to represent Singapore and her growth story."
