Huggies Vietnam Announces New Hospital Program to Help the Smallest Babies

Huggies, one of the leading diaper brands in hospitals, has launched in Asia its latest innovation designed for the smallest babies. These specialized diapers are designed to protect the delicate skin of premature babies, while promoting healthy growth and development.

To help preterm babies get the “healing hugs” they need to thrive, Huggies has introduced a new program in partnership with leading hospitals in Vietnam. It will sponsor 350,000 Huggies® preemie diapers for preterm infants at the top obstetric hospitals in Vietnam, including Tu Du Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital. The program is expected to benefit more than 6,000 babies annually.

In addition, Huggies will also support a series of conferences to provide a platform for medical professionals, doctors and nurses in Vietnam to exchange knowledge and be educated on care and treatment for preterm infants.

The program was announced at the “Advanced Methods on Care and Treatment of Premature Babies” workshop in Ho Chi Minh City on 16 April 2017.

According to the World Health Organization, an estimated 15 million babies, or one in ten babies, are born prematurely each year. Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICUs) have lacked a diaper solution specifically designed for this fragile population. Responding to this unmet need, Huggies worked closely with NICU nurses and neonatal therapists to develop a specialized preemie diaper.

The process to create Huggies Preemie Diapers included intensive research and design optimization, as well as interviews with nurses and neonatal therapists to ensure the design provided optimal fit for healthy growth and development.

“As the leading diaper brand in Vietnam, Huggies, and Kimberly-Clark, are committed to improve healthcare outcomes for mothers and infants,” said Mr. Praneeth Yendamuri, Managing Director of Kimberly-Clark Vietnam. “Our new program will support the medical care and well-bring of preterm infants, and reflects our commitment to help all babies thrive, especially the smallest and most fragile.”

The sponsorship program is Kimberly-Clark’s latest initiative to bring the essentials for a better life to Vietnamese consumers. The company has contributed to the community through innovative programs such as virtual pre-natal classes for more than 100,000 Vietnamese mothers-to-be and a diaper donation drive for families in need, leveraging consumers’ social media posts.
