With a vision to lead the world in essentials for a better life, Kimberly-Clark is committed to creating social, environmental and business value through its programs and partnerships. Water is an essential resource to Kimberly-Clark’s business and the company has set ambitious water reduction targets and invested in the development of solutions that support mills and communities in water-stressed regions.

An example of the company’s best practices in water management is the modularized waste water treatment plant at its plant in Tuas, Singapore. In 2016, the mill invested in this to treat and recycle waste water generated from the process to manufacture wet wipes. As a result, the mill is recycling up to 75% of the waste water it generates annually for non-domestic uses, such as cooling towers and landscaping, contributing to Singapore’s long-term water sustainability strategy.

Last month, the company published its annual report on sustainability, providing the first update on the company's global progress toward its Sustainability 2022 goals. Introduced last year, Sustainability 2022 is the company’s framework to address social and environmental challenges with programs designed to create social, environmental and business value. In its first year, Kimberly-Clark surpassed three of its five sustainability targets, and is on track to meet or exceed all of its goals by 2022.
