Kimberly-Clark Participates in 'Leadership Mosaics across Asia' Panel Discussion

A study by The Human Capital Leadership Institute (HCLI) reveals interesting nuances of Asian leadership on the back of in-depth conversation with 165 C-level executives across nine countries in Asia. ‘Leadership Mosaics Across Asia’ is an in-depth study that surfaces insights into the similarities and differences in leadership characteristics across the continent giving a detailed orientation into its organizational cultures and providing leadership lessons.

At the launch of the study in Ho Chi Minh city, a panel of business leaders discussed the readiness of emerging Vietnamese leaders to become global leaders and what was needed to accelerate the development of these leaders into global roles. 

The study reveals that while Vietnam’s business leaders are able and adept at dealing in situations of volatility, their general lack of exposure to other cultures and approaches hampers their potential for global leadership. This may change as overseas-educated Vietnamese start to return from overseas.

Praneeth Yendamuri, Managing Director, Kimberly-Clark Vietnam and Indochina, said while it may be some time before Vietnamese global leaders emerge and achieve critical mass, senior executives should focus on leadership development and take accountability for building the next level of leaders.  The model of multicultural and multinational leaders in MNCs creates an effective stepping stone for potential Vietnamese leaders to attain better experience and build themselves, familiarizing themselves with larger international operations in the future.
