CharaExpo 2015 kicks into high gear
June 20, 2015, Singapore – CharaExpo, a Japanese anime, manga, games and cosplay event, kicked off this morning with an opening ceremony officiated by the President and Chief Executive Officer of Bushiroad Inc, Taakaki Kidani; Managing Director of JETRO, Masaya Hasebe; New Japan Pro-Wrestler, Jushin Thunder Liger and noted illustrator of Captain Tusbasa, Yoichi Takahashi.
The two-day CharaExpo 2015 expects attendance from more than 15,000 attendees from around the Southeast Asian region. Headliners at CharaExpo 2015 include anime creators, Akio Watanabe (Grisaia no Kajitsu, Bakemonogatari) and Masami Obari (Gravion, Cardfight!! Vanguard); voice artists such as Izumi Kitta (Milky Holmes, Cardfight!! Vanguard) and Aimi (Cardfight!! Vanguard, Future Card BuddyFight); and rising pop stars, Maon Kurosaki, Mashiro Ayano and BACK-ON. Famed cosplayers Kaname, Sin Izumi and Tatsumi Inui will be judging the cosplay competition on the Cos☆Stage and the all-stars of the New Japan Pro-Wrestling team will make their first appearance in Singapore.
Mitsuhisa Tamura, author of the comic, Future Card Buddyfight is excited about his debut at CharaExpo in Singapore. "This is the first time I will be participating in an overseas event since I became a manga author. I am looking forward to meeting the fans and sharing my experience as an author. CharaExpo is a great platform for artists and authors to interact with anime fans in the region and grow the community.”
In addition to exclusive movie screenings, mini concerts and live artist drawing sessions, fans will be treated to exclusive artist merchandise from first-time exhibitors such as Good Smile Company, nitro+, Visual Arts, Otaku Wars and Collateral Damage Studios. Avid trading card gamers can participate in Bushiroad Spring Fest 2015, which will feature a 600-seat card game area for both new and veteran players. Anime movie fans are in for a treat with screenings of Attack on Titan Part 1: Crimson Bow and Arrow, Arpeggio of the Blue Steel Ars Nova DC and The Last: Naruto the Movie.
