INAUGURAL RADIOLOGY EXHIBITION LAUNCHED IN SINGAPORE

21 April 2015 – SINGAPORE – SingEx Exhibitions announces the inaugural launch of RadiologyAsia exhibition, taking place from 14-16 May 2015 at MAX Atria @ Singapore EXPO. Launched in partnership with the Singapore Radiological Society, RadiologyAsia 2015 will be held jointly with the 24th Annual Scientific Meeting of the Singapore Radiological Society with the theme of ‘Advancing Radiology in Curing Cancer”. Set against a growing industry for medical imaging, informatics and clinical practices well worth over USD50 billion, this event will serve as an exchange hub for the medical professionals in Asia.

More than 1,000 medical professionals and trade visitors from across Asia are expected to attend the exhibition which will showcase more than 100 radiological products and solutions for Computed Tomography (CT), Mammography, Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Nuclear Medicine Imaging, Positron Emission Tomography (PET), Ultrasound and X-Rays. In addition, Linear Accelerators will be on display as well as service providers of Radiology Informatics and Therapeutics. Amongst the confirmed exhibitors are established companies like Bayer Healthcare Radiology, GE Healthcare, Medical Imaging Systems, Philips Healthcare, PSP Corporation, Toshiba Medical Systems and Siemens.

Aloysius Arlando, CEO of SingEx Holdings says that the company identified an escalating trend in Asia where sophisticated medical imaging equipment are increasingly deployed in the provision of high quality healthcare for an aging population base. “RadiologyAsia will be the platform of choice where radiology professionals and the medical imaging industry can update themselves with the latest in medical imaging and techniques, see state-of-the-art technology, while networking with their peers from across the region.”

The 24th Annual Scientific Meeting of the Singapore Radiological Society and College of Radiologists Singapore will examine how radiology as a discipline has contributed significantly to a decline in cancer mortality, in spite of a persistent rising trend in cancer incidences across all ages.

Underscoring the choice of the theme for the Scientific Meeting, Dr Daniel Tan Yat Harn, Consultant Radiation Oncologist, Department of Radiation Oncology at the National Cancer Centre Singapore and the Chairman of the Organising Advisory Committee of RadiologyAsia, says that “Radiology has contributed significantly to the decline of cancer-related deaths. From early detection and diagnosis, such as mammographic screening for breast cancer, to the advent of intensity-modulated/imaged-guided radiotherapy in the treatment of several human cancers, the contribution of the radiology community in cancer care is considerable.”

The conference programme includes symposiums, plenary addresses and specific tracks addressing the prostate, head-neck, musculoskeletal and lower gastrointestinal parts of the body. Other tracks include an oral scientific session/Resident’s track, abdominal imaging, interventional radiology and neuro-oncology. The line-up of more than 100 speakers is almost unprecedented, with over 30 coming from overseas, from as far as USA (Dr. Vikas Kundra & Prof Simon Lo), UK (Dr. Mark Harrison & Prof Peter Hoskin), Australia (Prof Andrew Scott), Italy (Dr. Luigi Solbiati), Korea (Dr. Ha Dong-Ho), Japan (Prof Hiroshi Onishi), Hong Kong (Dr. Ann D. King), Thailand (Dr. Napapong Pongnapang) and Malaysia (Dr Evelyn Lai-Ming Ho).

In a strong show of support, RadiologyAsia has attracted the support of key academic associations and societies including the College of Radiologists from Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and Hong Kong; The Academy of Medicine of Malaysia; the Singapore Society of Oncology; Singapore Society of Radiographers; Society of Medical Physicists, Singapore; and the Korean Society of Radiology.
