Putting WSH at the heart of the business

This year, the COVID-19 pandemic is threatening the very heart of a business: its operations. It is forcing businesses to re-examine their relationship with people and has thrown the spotlight on how employee well-being should be central to the business. Mr Nuseir Yassin will address the co-dependent relationship that exists between businesses and people, and how, by taking care of your employees, they in turn will take care of your business. During his keynote address, he will share a fresh 1-minute video.

Across 4 plenary sessions and 6 symposiums, discussions will centre on the interdependence of a business with its people, and how managers today can create a sustainable business culture; the impact of digitalisation, mental health, workplace transformation; and the future of work. Delegates can tap into the extensive knowledge and rich experiences of the speakers and learn from one another’s best practices to manage a business in context of the COVID-19 pandemic’s impact on the work, health, and safety of employees.

Some of the themes discussed include:

  • How WSH is an intrinsic component of every successful business, and how important strong WSH ownership is to build a culture of care in the organisation
  • How businesses can better determine and prepare for the unexpected by building a culture of risk prevention and implementing progressive WSH practices, which in turn will help with business continuity when the unforeseen happens
  • Creating ownership of WSH. This is important because it takes the combined efforts of multiple stakeholders and the empowerment of individuals to personally own WSH and to make WSH a way of life in business
  • Emerging trends in the digital economy and their implications for WSH – ranging from how WSH risks can be quickly identified and better managed, to the opportunities for integration of technologies into the WSH ecosystem
  • How emerging technology is influencing jobs and being used to engage employees, improve WSH outcomes and enhance safety training with ever more realistic scenarios
  • How academia, the government, and industry, can work together to co-create and maintain a safe, healthy, positive work environment to help manage the mental health and well-being of employees

Ministry of Manpower

Guided by our vision of “A Great Workforce. A Great Workplace.”, the Singapore Ministry of Manpower (MOM) works to achieve a globally competitive workforce and a great workplace for a cohesive society, and a secure economic future for all Singaporeans.

The Ministry seeks to enable Singaporeans to meet the challenges of the global economy in the 21st century, to have the skills and opportunity to realise their potential, have rewarding careers in quality work environments, and enjoy economic security.
