Sleek new wheels – and a fresh new look – rolls into Raffles Hotel Le Royal, Phnom Penh
Arrival of new luxury fleet of BMW 5 Series and 7 Series further solidifies hotel's five star service and style
(May 2012): The red carpet has been rolled out for Raffles Hotel Le Royal's newest arrivals - a sleek fleet of BMW 5 Series and BMW 7 Series limousines.
The new cars, which will have all entered service by the month of May, will replace the hotel's existing fleet of Mercedes vehicles, making Raffles Hotel Le Royal the only five star hotel in Phnom Penh with such an impressive fleet of limousines.
To complete the new look and feel, the hotel has also introduced a smart new chauffeur's uniform; the pristine white hat, jackets and clubs heightening the colonial feel.
The arrival of the new cars and uniforms is part of the ongoing reinvestment into the hotel, the most recent being an extensive refurbishment in Autumn 2011 which included subtly refreshing the lobby, event spaces, state rooms and suites.
Originally opened in 1929, Raffles Hotel Le Royal is only one of two luxury hotels in Cambodia which pre-date the civil war and Khmer Rouge era - the other being sister hotel Raffles Grand Hotel d'Angkor in Siem Reap.

Raffles Hotels & Resorts was formed in 1989 to restore, redevelop and manage the world-famous Raffles Hotel. This lays the foundation for Raffles Hotels & Resorts to become a world-class international hotel management company.
With a compelling mix of cultures and styles, every hotel in the Raffles family has its own individual personality, with its own story to tell and its own sense of place. However, each one is proud to draw on the original Raffles tradition of delivering thoughtful, personal and discreet service to well-travelled guests.
This philosophy is embodied in the Raffles symbol –The Traveller’s Palm. Legend tells that this spectacular tree was a welcome sight to travellers of old; water stored in the base of its leaves quenched their thirst and the orientation of the leaves in an East-West direction provided an informal compass to guide them.
Today’s guests find a modern interpretation the Traveller’s Palm in the pin worn by every employee of Raffles Hotels & Resorts – a potent reminder to both guests and staff of the spirit of hospitality and sanctuary that is alive and well at every Raffles hotel.
