Press release -
$6.90 Japanese (XXL) Katsu Curry Rice Anyone?
SINGAPORE — July 2015 — Japanese Katsu Curry Rice at GOEN at VivoCity’s Food Republic is not only easy on the pocket but also (super) value for money.
A plate of Katsu Curry Rice may only be $6.80 but the size of the katsu is way more than one would have bargained for - astonishingly humongous. Even an average eater would agree that this plate of goodness can be shared between 2 people.
GOEN may be in a food court setting but the chefs at GOEN are no amateurs when it comes to serving Japanese Curry Rice. Katsu is crispy-fried and served with freshly steamed rice bathed in piping hot, rich and thick Japanese curry. But theirs is no ordinary curry. To achieve a flavourful gravy, Executive Chef, Kumasaka Kazunari added tonkotsu stock (pork bones boiled for at least 10 hours) instead of water as soup base. Kazunari, who for years, honed his skills at a famous restaurant in Japan says, “In Singapore, the industry is highly saturated. With that many choices, the people here can easily differentiate between good and mediocre Japanese Curry Rice. To win the hearts of the locals here, knowing the art of making Japanese Curry Rice isn’t enough. You have to understand the locals’ palate.”
Other highly recommended items on the menu include Sumibiyaki (Japanese charcoal-grilled meat) as well as Tonkotsu Special Ramen. There are also Big Size platters fit for sharing among 3 - 4 people.
When you are at VivoCity’s Food Republic, it is hard to miss this humble Stall 23 considering that GOEN enjoys a steady flow of queue.
